Leese - Fitch

2009 California Pinot Noir

Notes

Dark ruby in color, the 2009 Pinot Noir boasts aromas of wild strawberry, violets, dark plum, and vanilla spiked oak. Flavors reminiscent of dark plum, raspberry, tobacco leaf, cocoa nibs, and rhubarb finishing with a hint of earthy loam, black cherry, and toffee. The crisp acidity keeps you coming back for more.

The harvest of 2009 was a very strong one for Pinot Noir lots from Monterey and Santa Barbara Counties. Long hang time and complete ripening allowed the grapes to hold their acid while the fruit developed in the skin. The outcome was intense Pinot Noir like this lot from Santa Barbara in the Leese Fitch 2009 Pinot Noir. Clarksburg Pinot Noir was added to blend to bring notes of cherry fruit. The depth of this blend will allow this wine to develop over the course of the next couple of years.

Pairings

Pair this wine with a bowl of spinach fettuccine with a wild mushroom cream sauce, a ground lamb burger topped with cherry preserves and a dollop of goat cheese on a brioche bun, or orange peel chicken over jasmine rice and a side of snap peas in a brown sauce.
