2009 Monterey Pinot Noir
Notes
The 2009 Pinot Noir is dark ruby in color. The aroma of this 2009 vintage of Monterey Pinot Noir just jumps from the glass. Scents of wild raspberry, sweet plum, and fresh strawberry with hints of cedar and caramel fill the glass. The flavors start with raspberry parfait, sweetened dried cranberry, and strawberry and then takes a dramatic turn toward the savory notes; fresh morel mushroom, bittersweet chocolate, and roasted chestnuts with hints of oregano and fresh loam. The finish goes back to the core of mouthwatering fruit with toasty French oak flavors lingering on the back end.
This fruit comes mostly from one vineyard in the rolling hills of Monterey, CA. This block was picked at the end of September when the grapes came into balance. This lot was fermented slow and low to preserve the brilliant fruit and loamy Monterey earth notes. After gently pressing off this wine, the wine was paired with a combination of two different French oak sources. The result is a well balanced, integrated Pinot Noir with a great marriage of fruit, earth, acidity, and oak. Enjoy this gem of a Pinot Noir.
Pairings
Our Moobuzz Pinot Noir would pair wonderfully with grilled tri tip with mashed sweet potatoes topped with caramelized onions, dried apricot stuffed pork tenderloin roasted with new potatoes and fennel, or lamb sliders topped with a fig jam and arugula.
